Violin Concerto Nr 2 in A minor Op. 11 | Works

This typesetting of the Violin Concerto Nº 2 by Tor Aulin is based on a quite curious handwritten manuscript most probably made by a copyist from the publishing house of Julius Hainauer around 1894, which as of today is in possession by violin repertoire researcher Tobias Broeker. What makes this manuscript particularly interesting, when comparing it to the more well-known version of the concerto whose manuscript currently resides in the archive of the Swedish Radio, is not only the fact that it calls for three additional trombones, but also the fact that it contains numerous quite extensive additions made by pencil and blue crayon, which are believed to be made by Tor Aulin himself. Supposedly, this score is therefore the revised version of the violin concerto that never got performed nor published during Aulin’s lifetime, now revived especially for the concert titled “Svensk konsert” (Swedish Concert) at Järfälla kulturscen, Sweden on 2022-11-19 15:00 with Järfälla Symphony Orchestra, Fritiof Palm (violin soloist) and Gunnar Julin (conductor).

Denna typsättning av violinkonsert nr 2 av Tor Aulin är baserad på ett ganska egendomligt handskrivet manuskript som troligen skapats av en kopierare från Julius Hainauers förlag omkring 1894, som från och med idag ägs av violinrepertoarforskaren Tobias Broeker. Det som gör detta manuskript särskilt intressant, när man jämför det med den mer välkända versionen av konserten vars manuskript för närvarande finns i Sveriges Radios arkiv, är inte bara det faktum att det kräver ytterligare tre tromboner, utan också det faktum att den innehåller många relativt omfattande tillägg gjorda med blyerts och blå krita, som tros vara gjorda av Tor Aulin själv. Förmodligen är detta partitur därför den reviderade versionen av violinkonserten som aldrig framfördes eller publicerades under Aulins livstid, nu återupplivad speciellt för konserten med titeln ”Svensk konsert” på Järfälla kulturscen, 2022-11-19 15:00 med Järfälla symfoniorkester, Fritiof Palm (violinsolist) och Gunnar Julin (dirigent).
