Gates & Barriers | Verk

I took a shot at rai.'s intriguing Summer Games challenge which dictates that you are not allowed to utilize the timeline. Needless to say, this was quite a challenge, especially if you want to create something remotely long with a decent level of variation. Fortunately, Audiotool offers a wide variety of tools, and some of them can be exploited to overcome the lack of timeline privileges (the title offers a cue).


In terms of sample content, the only samples appearing in this song are my own piano lines. Other than that, everything has been synthesized within Audiotool, making extensive use of the tonematrixes' note outputs and rasselbocks for rhythm sequencing and 303:s a.k.a. bass lines — the obvious choice (albeit cumbersome to program) for fully chromatic and non timeline dependent melodic sequencing.
